The spring water of Southern Yatsugatake is listed as one of the hundred famous spring waters of Japan. Lush rice paddies and white flowering buck weed fields during summer are sustained by this water. The area also hosts several ruins from the Jomon period, temples and Shinto shrines.
The spring water made it possible for people to live in this area since the dawn of time.
